SU Partners with GSC on Transformational Community Leadership Series

CELL SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University and its new Center for Extended and Lifelong Learning, in partnership with the Greater Salisbury Committee (GSC), are seeking participants for an inaugural Transformational Community Leadership Series.

The nine-month program gives young professionals an opportunity to explore the institutions that drive the community, set the business tone and help determine quality-of-life standards.

The program was conceived by a group of area young professionals, including Mayor Jake Day; Chris Eccleston, Delmarva Veteran Builders; Robby Sheehan, SU’s former director of government and community relations; and Heather Duma, congressional constituent services.

“We are proud and thrilled to partner with SU to bring this inaugural Transformational Community Series forward,” said Mike Dunn, GSC president and CEO, who has helped make the idea a reality, along with Mary Angela Baker, founding director of SU’s center.

“The great benefit of the TCL series is that it will enhance leadership skills, expand professional networks and escalate one’s leadership value,” Baker said. “It’s an excellent learning opportunity for high potential leaders.”

Kicking off in March, the series includes leadership training and learning about the issues, businesses, entities, facilities, and economic development engines that drive the Salisbury/Wicomico area.

Held on Thursdays monthly, sessions are noon-4 p.m. with a brown bag lunch. Activities include site tours, panel discussions, question-and-answer sessions and more. Salisbury Independent Editor Greg Bassett serves as a facilitator. Sessions include:

•    March 16: Correctional Facilities
•    April 20: Waste Water Treatment
•    May 18: K-12 Education
•    June 15: Manufacturing
•    July 20: Agriculture
•    August 17: Healthcare
•    September 14: Airport
•    October 19: Celebration

Cost is $300. For more information about the program, contact SU CELL at 410-543-6090.
