Some 900 Students Spruce Up Area During 'I Love Salisbury'

I Love Salisbury
I Love SalisburySALISBURY, MD---Some 900 Salisbury University students from 60 campus organizations recently helped spruce up public, private and non-profit properties during the SU Student Government Association’s ninth annual “I Love Salisbury” community cleanup event Saturday, November 12.

They fulfilled requests for yardwork and more at nearly 50 Salisbury sites such as Asbury United Methodist Church; several area parks, including Schumaker; and the campus, including the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art; as well as private residences in surrounding neighborhoods.

“We saw a record number of student volunteers at this year’s event, which united our students with each other and with the community,” said Dr. Dane Foust, vice president of student affairs. “The fact that so many would get up early on a weekend and give up a large part of their Saturday to make the community a cleaner place speaks to their dedication to civic engagement and their pride as Sea Gulls. Our thanks go out to the SGA for organizing the ‘I Love Salisbury’ program and to the campus community for making it reality.”
