Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series Presents 'Folk Songs and Fairy Tales' October 20
SALISBURY, MD---The Peter and Judy Jackson Chamber Music Series at Salisbury University presents the concert “Folk Songs and Fairy Tales” with pianist Veronica Tomanek and cellist Ho Anthony Ahn 7 p.m. Thursday, October 20, in the Great Hall of Holloway Hall.
The program includes Schumann’s Five Pieces in Folkstyle, Janácek’s Pohadka and two sets of variations by Beethoven from Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).
Also featured is the North American premiere of “Ik zal het hooren” (after the Dutch poem with the same title by Multatuli) by Belgian composer Erika Budai, with guest tenor Dr. John Wesley Wright of SU’s Music, Theatre and Dance Department.
Tomanek, an instructor in the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Fine Arts Department, is known for her performances throughout the Eastern Shore, as well as New England and New Jersey. A native of Connecticut, she was the principal pianist/keyboardist for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra for 16 years. She also has performed with the U.S. Coast Guard Band and Chamber Players, and the New World Consort, among others.
