Salisbury Film Society Presents 'Mustang' Sunday, October 2

Mustang Movie PosterSALISBURY, MD—The Salisbury Film Society (SFS) presents the Oscar-nominated international drama Mustang 2:30 p.m. Sunday, October 2, in Fulton Hall 111.

Mustang follows five orphaned sisters in a village in North Turkey who are forced into confinement by their strict guardians after caught innocently playing with male classmates. While their guardians subject them to endless lessons in homemaking and arrange forced marriages, the five girls fight for a future of freedom.

David Lewis of the San Francisco Chronicle said “The impressive film not only underscores the clash between traditional and modern values, but also provides inspiration for deciding your own fate, even when the world seemingly doesn't give you a choice.”

Derya Kulavuz-Onal of SU’s English department leads a group discussion following the screening.

The SFS series is co-sponsored by the Salisbury Wicomico Arts Council (SWAC) and SU’s Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts.

Tickets are $9, $8 for SWAC members, free for college and university students with ID. For more information call 410-543-ARTS (2787) or visit the SWAC website at www.543arts.org.
