Sister Souljah Lecture October 27

SALISBURY, MD--Sister Souljah, self-described raptivist and one-time associate of the rap group Public Enemy, urges intellect, self-respect and spirituality when she speaks in Salisbury State University s Holloway Hall Auditorium Tuesday, October 27, at 7:30 p.m. Although the event is free, donations of canned food goods will be appreciated.

Sister Souljah, a graduate of Rutgers University, came to national notoriety in 1992, when scolded publicly by presidential candidate Bill Clinton for allegedly racist remarks that appeared in Souljah s Washington Post interview promoting her album 360 Degrees of Power. In early 1995 she released the book No Disrespect, dealing with the relationship between black men and women. She has toured the nation dedicated to overcoming teenage pregnancy, fatherless households, crime and poverty in African-American communities. Sister Souljah s lecture is sponsored by the Union of African-American Students and SSU. For more information contact the Office of Multiethnic Student Services at 410-548-4503.
