SU Art Galleries Presents 'Nocturne' by Kathleen Scott

wolf SALISBURY, MD---Artist Kathleen Scott explores the intrinsic connection between memory and mortality in the exhibit “Nocturne” November 21-January 10 at the Salisbury University Art Galleries – Downtown Campus.

She presents an artist talk 5:30 p.m. Thursday, November 20, in Fulton Hall Room 111. A workshop is 10 a.m. Friday, November 21, in Fulton Hall Room 225 A reception is 5-8 p.m. November 21 during the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District’s monthly 3rd Friday celebration.

Through “Nocturne,” Scott reflects on her childhood relationship with animals through cut paper, moving images, sound and projections. She uses a technique similar to children’s “magic lanterns” to evoke a contrasting space with the eeriness of a forest and the comfort of a nursery.

Scott has exhibited throughout the United States, including the Tuscon (AZ) Museum of Art and West Virginia University’s School of Art and Design. She has been an artist-in-residence at institutions including West Texas A&M University and, through The Arctic Circle alliance of artists communities, Longyearbyen, Norway.

Gallery hours are noon-6 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, noon-4 p.m. Saturdays. Sponsored by SU Art Galleries, admission is free and the public is invited.
