Whitt Keynotes SU's African-American History Month Celebration Thursday, February 24

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Christopher Whitt, professor of political science and Africana studies at Augustana College, IL, keynotes Salisbury University’s African-American History Month celebration 7 p.m. Thursday, February 24, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

The SU alumnus speaks on “Race, Wealth and Inequality,” examining the impact of the racial wealth gap on African-American political participation and its roots to slavery and the Civil War.

Whitt earned his Ph.D. in political science from the University of Maryland College Park. A faculty member at Augustana since 2007, he is a founder of the college’s Africana Studies Program.

Sponsored by the Multicultural Student Services Office, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information call 410-548-4503 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
