Thomas Presents at Center for Nonprofit Success Summit

Dr. Rosemary M. ThomasSALISBURY, MD---Dr. Rosemary M. Thomas, vice president of advancement at Salisbury University and executive director of the Salisbury University Foundation, Inc., recently was a guest speaker at the Center for Nonprofit Success’ 2010 D.C. Fundraising Summit.

Thomas spoke on “Capital Campaigns,” focusing on the importance of the role volunteers play in the success of fundraising campaigns. She has worked in higher educational development for more than two decades, establishing SU’s current $35 million “Taking Excellence to New Heights: Campaign 2012.” The initiative includes monies for scholarship endowments, fine arts, campus enhancements, outreach and the University’s new Franklin P. Perdue School of Business building.  She also oversees the SU Foundation, with assets of some $44 million.

Under her leadership, SU was one of 30 higher education institutions nationwide to receive the CASE-WealthEngine Award for Overall Improvement of superior fundraising programs, which represented only 3 percent of eligible campuses.

Thomas is the ACT state representative for Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia. She is a member of several professional organizations including the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education, the Delmarva Planned Giving Council and the Association of Fund Raising Professionals.

Holding a firm belief that public service is not an option but a responsibility, she is active with community, state and national clubs and organizations such as the American Cancer Society and its Relay For Life, the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State, as well as Girls Nation.
In 2008, she was named one of “Maryland’s Top 100 Women.”
