Poets Highlight 'Mid-Atlantic Review' Unveiling May 4

SALISBURY, MD---Husband-and-wife poets David Baker and Ann Townsend read from their works as Salisbury University unveils the 2006 edition of its literary magazine, Mid-Atlantic Review, 8 p.m. Thursday, May 4, in the Worcester Room of the Commons.

Baker, the Thomas B. Fordham Chair of Creative Writing at Denison University, reads from his latest book, Treatise on Touch: Selected Poems.  The poetry editor for The Kenyon Review, he regularly teaches a program for writers at Warren Wilson College.  Baker has taught at Kenyon College, Ohio State University and the University of Michigan. 

Townsend, an associate professor of English at Denison University, also reads from her latest book, The Coronary Garden. Her poems have appeared in magazines such as Poetry, Paris Review, The Nation, Witness and The Georgia Review.

Baker and Townsend live in Granville, OH, with their daughter.  They currently are completing a new collection of essays together, Radiant Lyre: On Lyric Poetry. Sponsored by the English Department as part of the Writers-on-the-Shore series, the event is free and also includes readings by contributors to Mid-Atlantic Review.  The public is invited.  For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at "
