SU Police Earn Crime Prevention, Chief's Challenge Awards

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University Police recently received the 2005 Governor’s Crime Prevention Award. This marks the 12th time SU Police have earned this recognition.

SU Police also recently earned an award for seatbelt enforcement as part of the 2005 Maryland Chief’s Challenge Program.

The Governor’s Crime Prevention Award, given to law enforcement agencies throughout Maryland, is based on criteria for a comprehensive law enforcement agency crime prevention program. SU earned the award for continuing programs for students including Rape Aggression Defense (RAD), campus crime prevention, drug abuse prevention and Operation ID (engraving personal property).

Some 16 law enforcement agencies throughout the state received the award, including eight counties, four municipalities, and four universities.

The Maryland Chief's Challenge is an intensive law enforcement campaign to educate the public about the lifesaving and injury-reducing benefits of safety belt use. The campaign runs from April-June each year. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu. "
