African-American Genealogy Workshop Set

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Clara Small, history professor at Salisbury University, presents a workshop on navigating the roadblocks and unique problems historians face when researching African-American families from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, January 17, at the Edward H. Nabb Research Center for Delmarva History and Culture.

Though a vast quantity of primary source material is available to researchers, some are finding it not always of practical value to African-American genealogists.

During the workshop, Small offers advice and examples on how to approach research issues. The center is located in the Power Professional Building on Wayne Street on SU’s East Campus.

Cost is $40 per person, $35 for students and center members. Registration deadline is Saturday, January 9. A research method and source handbook is provided. The workshop breaks for lunch.

To register or for more information call Jeri Hurley at 410-677-5404 or Carol Brady at 410-548-4481, or visit the Nabb Research Center Web site at nabbhistory.salisbury.edu.
