Delancey Trio Performs

SALISBURY, MD---The Delancey Trio chamber group performs at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, in Fulton Hall Room 112 at Salisbury University.

The recital features pianist Dr. Patrick K. Freer, director of choral activities at SU, cellist Dr. Vic Spain and violinist Katina Streick.

Spain performs with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia and Concert Operetta Theatre. Streick has played with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia and the Mozart and Friends Opera Company.

The trio is named after Delancey Street in Philadelphia, where the ensemble meets for rehearsal and informal performance.

The recital includes brief introductory comments, instructing the audience members what to listen for in each piece. The trio performs movements from sonatas by Beethoven and Shostakovich, in addition to miniature pieces including Saint-Saens’ “The Swan,” Rachmaninoff’s “Vocalise,” Albeniz’ “Tango in D” and Bridge’s “Cradle Song.”

Performance pieces also include the serene “Circulo” by Joaquin Turina and the rarely heard “Trio, No. 1” by Dmitri Shostakovich.

The recital is free and the public is cordially invited. For more information call 410-543-6386 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
