Second Annual ESL Professional Development Day and Book Fair
SALISBURY, MD---The Training for All Teachers Project (TAT) and the Bilingual Education Career Ladder Program sponsor the second annual ESL Professional Development Day and Book Fair Friday, April 11, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University.
Dr. Barney Bérubé will deliver the featured presentation, "Navigating Uncharted Territory: Managing ESL Programs in Rural Schools." He has been an English as a Second Language (ESL)/Bilingual Education specialist with the Maine Department of Education for 24 years. He is also a member of the ESL faculty at the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine and the author of Managing ESL Programs in Rural and Small Urban Schools.
Additional sessions will include workshops on teaching strategies for English language learners, panel discussions and demonstrations of new technologies for second language learning. ESL publishers will exhibit books and materials throughout the day and the Delmarva ESL Teachers Association (DETA) will meet in the afternoon.
The TAT Project is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education to address the needs of the growing population of English language learners on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Virginia. TAT disseminates teaching strategies for English language learners to inservice and pre-service teachers, principals and higher education faculty throughout the region.
