Nursing Programs Earn Highest CCNE Accreditation

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University's Nursing Programs received the highest possible rating during a recent accreditation visit from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), securing accreditation for the maximum period of five-years. The CCNE accreditation supplants SU's accreditation from the National League of Nursing. The CCNE accredits only baccalaureate, masters and doctoral level nursing programs. "The glowing accreditation recommendation is evidence of the caliber of our graduate and undergraduate programs," said Dr. Lisa Seldomridge, the nursing faculty member who began the accreditation process as past department chair. Prior to the external evaluation necessary for accreditation, SU performed a self-study of all aspects of its undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. CCNE officials were so impressed they offered two of SU's nursing faculty—Seldomridge and Dr. Karen Badros—positions CCNE program evaluators for other programs around the country. The department also received continuing approval of its programs from the Maryland Board of Nursing. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
