SALISBURY, MD---Recognizing Salisbury University’s 80 years of service to the community, Hebron Savings Bank has created a five-year, $15,000 scholarship program for SU students from the Lower Eastern Shore counties of Wicomico, Somerset and Dorchester, where the bank has branches. “SU is a well-recognized, accredited institution,” said Greg Johnson, president and CEO of Hebron Savings Bank. “We are extremely proud to partner with the University to offer a scholarship to a deserving student in the area in which we do business.” “This is part of ongoing efforts by the SU Foundation to secure more scholarship monies for students,” said Kim Nechay, assistant director of the Foundation and director of development at SU. “We are grateful to the Hebron Savings Bank for its contributions to higher education in this region.” “This Hebron Bank Scholarship will go to a student who demonstrates financial need. Part of the Shore Scholars Program, this is a joint community and university effort to help provide access to higher education for students on the Shore,” said Charles Emery, a member of the SU Foundation Board of Directors. Awarded in grants of $3,000, which are renewable annually under certain conditions, the scholarship begins this fall. To be considered, students must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need. Employees of Hebron Savings Bank and their children are not eligible for the scholarship. For details on the scholarship call the SU Admissions Office at 410-543-6161.
