Love, Marriage Revue Opens SU Theatre Season

SALISBURY, MD---Fans of Shakespeare, Noel Coward and Tennessee Williams are in luck during this year’s Bobbi Biron Theatre season at Salisbury University. Not only are all three represented in this season’s repertoire; they’re all in the same show! Under the direction of Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer, director of SU Theatre, Stephanie Hallgren and Christopher Wallace present the original revue Love, Marriage and Everything in Between Thursday-Sunday, September 9-12, in Fulton Hall’s Black Box Theatre. Curtain is 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday. Hallgren and Wallace depict some of the greatest lovers in stage history, including Anthony and Cleopatra from the Shakespeare play of the same name, Mandy Chase Prynne and Elly Chase from Noel Coward’s Private Lives and Blanche DuBois and Stanley Kowalski from Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire. “The power of montage is that around the theme, you can get all these different viewpoints,” said Hallgren. The duo reads scenes from other plays including Euripides’ Medea, Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, Sheridan’s The School For Scandal, Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? And Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, peppered with droll quotations from such literary icons as Mark Twain and Oscar Wilde and even a take on Adam and Eve. “It expresses the horror, tumult and agony of love and marriage,” said Hallgren. Admission is $10, $8 for seniors. SU ID holders are admitted free. For reservations call 410-543-6228 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
