SU Foundation Board Welcomes New Member Charles Capute

SALISBURY, MD---With two children in college, one recent graduate and another planning to attend soon, Charles Capute knows what higher education is all about. That knowledge—combined with his experience in fund-raising and development—makes him a perfect candidate for the Salisbury University Foundation Board of Directors. The Easton, MD, attorney recently joined the board following a nomination from outgoing member Lloyd Beatty, Capute’s mentor. “I have a lot of close friends and associates in Salisbury,” Capute said. “I love the town and I’ve always been interested in the University.” This year, he has one more strong connection to Salisbury. His oldest daughter, Ashley, begins teaching at Parkside High School this fall. He is a graduate of Kenyon College and earned his law degree with honors from Capital University in Columbus, OH. He has lectured at SU. His middle children, Ann and Casey, are earning their degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University and Muskingum College in New Concord, OH, respectively. Capute has been a member of many civic boards on the Eastern Shore. Currently, he chairs the Mid-Shore Community Foundation, is a trustee at Memorial Hospital at Easton and Gunston Day School in Centreville, an executive committee member of the Talbot County YMCA and a member of the Washington College President’s Advisory Board. He is also a director of the Avon Dixon Insurance Agency, Whalen Co., and Easton Bank and Trust, all in Easton. Capute lives in Easton with his wife of 29 years, Virginia, and youngest daughter, Rebecca, a junior at Easton High School.
