Small Keynotes Civil War Lecture Series

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Clara L. Small, professor of history at Salisbury University, was invited to be the keynote speaker in the Civil War Lecture Series at Emory and Henry College in Emory, VA, Thursday, September 4. Small was the first of four major speakers and the only female in the series.

Small’s topic, “A Black Southern Woman Looks at the Man’s War,” addressed several questions regarding that perspective in both historical and contemporary contexts.

“It was an honor to be invited to speak at the Civil War Lecture Series and to be among noted historians and authors who are presenting their perspectives on the war,” Small said.

Small is the author of Reality Check: Brief Biographies of African-Americans on Delmarva.
