SU to Host Ultimate Frisbee Tournament February 26-27

SALISBURY, MD---Some of the country’s best Ultimate Frisbee teams compete Saturday-Sunday, February 26-27, during the 2005 Atlantis tournament, hosted by the Salisbury University men’s Ultimate Frisbee team.

Some 32 open teams and 16 women’s teams compete for top honors during the two-day double-elimination tournament, sanctioned by the Ultimate Players Association (UPA). Competition takes place at SU’s intramural fields, Parkside High School’s athletic fields and fields adjacent to the former Salisbury Mall.

Colleges and universities bidding for tournament slots include American, Brown, Bucknell, Dartmouth, Duke, Elon, Johns Hopkins, Loyola, Navy, Penn State, Princeton and Rutgers among others. The games will be covered on CSTV’s CollegeSports.com and the UPA’s quarterly magazine, Ultimate News.

Teams may bid for tournament participation through Friday, January 21, by e-mailing buzzsalisbury@hotmail.com. Tournament teams will be announced Sunday, January 23. Selection is based on each team’s previous year’s UPA ranking, willingness to travel and current season standing. Tournament fee is $200, including use of fields, food, water and a pizza dinner.

Pat’s Pizzeria and Purple Pony Shirts co-sponsor the tournament with the SU team. For more information contact tournament coordinator Justin Michaliga at 410-610-0171 or jm10292@salisbury.edu, or visit the tournament Web site at http://orgs.salisbury.edu/ultimate/atlantis. "
