Ference Presents Work at Slovak Republic Embassy

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Gregory C. Ference, history professor in the Charles R. and Martha N. Fulton School of Liberal Arts at Salisbury University recently gave a presentation at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Washington, D.C. His presentation, “Konstantin Culen: Early Chronicler of Slovaks in America,” discussed the journalist and historian Konstantin Culen who published History of the Slovaks in America. The book is a major resource for early Slovak life in the United States. The book was only available in the Slovak language until its recent translation by the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society for which Ference served as a consultant and wrote the forward.  His presentation covered the difficulties of translating this work. The English translation is expected to be released later this year. For more information call the Salisbury University Public Relations Office or visit our website at www.salisbury.edu.
