"Business Students Score in Top 13 Percent"†

SALISBURY, MD--Students at the Salisbury University’s Perdue School of Business put in a strong showing recently on a national business knowledge test, placing SU among the top 13 percent of schools in the country.

The 163 graduating seniors, who took the Major Fields Test in Business, administered by the Educational Testing Service, outscored students from 335 other business schools nationwide.  A total of 388 business schools participated in the test.

The tests are used to gauge students' knowledge in accounting, economics, management, finance, marketing, legal and international issues.

Perdue School Professor of Management Frank Shipper said the results also show that the 10-year-old Perdue School of Business, despite its relative youth compared to other schools, is producing talented graduates.

The test results also help faculty members determine the progress of their students and evaluate their curriculum.

Students enrolled in the senior-level Strategic Management course took the test in lieu of a final exam.

Other schools that participated in the testing include James Madison University (VA), Davidson College (NC), Baylor University (TX) and Drexel University (PA).

The Perdue School is the only business school in the region to be accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

At Salisbury University some 6,400 students in 31 undergraduate and eight graduate programs pursue liberal arts and professional degrees.  Located on the Eastern Shore 30 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and 20 miles from the Chesapeake Bay, Salisbury is two and one-half hours from Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Norfolk, VA, and Wilmington, DE.  Princeton Review ranks SSU as one of the top universities in the nation.
