15th Annual High School Mathematics Competition November 12 at SSU
Seventy-five students from 25 schools in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia will demonstrate their math expertise on an individual and team basis.
The participating schools include: Cape Henlopen, Indian River, Laurel, Seaford, Sussex Central and Woodbridge in Delaware; Colonel Richardson, Delmarva Homeschoolers, Easton, James M. Bennett, Mardela, North Dorchester, North Caroline, Parkside, Pocomoke, Snow Hill, SS. Peter and Paul, Stephen Decatur, Wicomico Senior High School and Worcester Country in Maryland; Arcadia, Broadwater, Chincoteague, Nandua and Northampton in Virginia.
Conectiv, Crestar Bank and SSU's Department of Mathematics and Computer Science co-sponsor the event. "We are thrilled about our continuing partnership with Conectiv and Crestar Bank," said Dr. Michael Bardzell, mathematics competition co-chair. "Without their generous support in planning and funding, we would not be able to provide this valuable opportunity for area students to showcase their math talents."

Each student receives a certificate of participation and commemorative T-shirt. U.S. Savings Bonds will be awarded to the top five students, as well as to the students on the three best teams. Cash prizes will be given to the top three teams to be used toward the purchase of mathematics-related materials for their respective schools.
