Piano Duet Recital April 2

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Linda Cockey and Maryen Herrett of Salisbury State University's Department of Music perform a piano duet recital on Sunday, April 2, at 4 p.m., in SSU's Great Hall of Holloway Hall.

Musical selections performed include Three Easy Pieces and Five Easy Pieces from Igor Stravinsky; Sonate für Klavier vierhändig by Paul Hindemith; Overtures from The Barber of Seville and La Gazza Ladra from Gioacchino Rossini; the Pupazzetti, Opus 27 by Alfredo Casella; and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Sonata in F major, K. 497.

Cockey, an associate professor of music, coordinates the keyboard division at SSU. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Catholic University of America, where she was a student of Thomas Mastroianni. She holds a Master of Music from Temple University and an undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College.

A newcomer to the Eastern Shore, Herrett and her husband moved to Whitehaven, MD, from Falls Church, VA, in 1997. Herrett has performed extensively in the Mid-Atlantic area including recitals at the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C., and appearances with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra (Arlington) and has maintained an independent studio for many years, specializing in teaching piano to gifted students of pre-college age. In addition to her private studio in Whitehaven, she teaches piano at SSU.

Both performers have played several concerts together at SSU.
