Eastern Shore Senior Games RegistrationDeadline March 31

SALISBURY, MD---The inaugural Eastern Shore Senior Games at Salisbury StateUniversity on April 21 and 22 has already attracted some 100 registrants, butthe March 31 deadline for registering for the array of events for Marylanders 50years of age and older is fast approaching.

The Eastern Shore Senior Games, sponsored by the SSU Department of PhysicalEducation, features competition in the following activities: aquatics, archery,badminton, billiards, cycling, golf, handball, horseshoes, racquetball,shuffleboard, softball/football throw, table tennis, tennis, track and field, 3on 3 basketball, line dancing, softball and volleyball.

While the emphasis is on promoting physical fitness and a healthy, activelifestyle among people 50 and over, each competition features gold, silver andbronze medals awarded to the top three male and female contestants in each agecategory (50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75- 79, 80-84, 85-89, 90-94, 95+).If participant numbers are insufficient, age groups may be combined forcompetition purposes.

The Eastern Shore Senior Games, a satellite event for the Maryland SeniorGames held annually at Towson University in the fall, are affiliated with theMaryland Senior Olympics Commission.

The Eastern Shore Games are supported by the SSU Foundation Inc., Conectiv,WBOC- TV, Pepsi-Cola Bottling Co. of Salisbury, the Sea Gull Century and theWicomico County Division of Tourism.
