Crucible Auditions Scheduled for September 6-7

SALISBURY, MD -- Actors of all ages are encouraged to audition for The Crucible to be produced at Salisbury State University in October. A general call for actors of varying ages was announced today by the Bobbi Biron Theatre Program's Director, Dr. T. Paul Pfeiffer. Set to direct the production, Pfeiffer describes Arthur Miller's drama of the infamous Salem witch trials: "Fear, repression and power create a devastating mania in this frightening study in mass delusion and the strength of suspicion. Originally written as a signal to the destructive power of McCarthyism in the 1950's, the force of the play's message retains its vitality today."

To meet the casting requirements of the play, the Theatre Program's open casting policy is being stressed in an effort to draw actors from the community as well as the campus. "As an intimate portrait of a small village, the play requires a realistic diversity in age," Pfeiffer said, "and while our casting policy is open to all, one pivotal role specifically calls for an African-American female."

Auditions for The Crucible will be on Wednesday and Thursday, September 6-7, from 6-8 p.m. in the Fulton Hall Theatre on the campus of Salisbury State University. For additional information contact Pfeiffer at 410-543-6235.
