Salisbury Pops Performs Holiday Concert December 8

Salisbury Pops Performs Holiday Concert December 8SALISBURY, MD---The Salisbury Pops continues Salisbury University’s 2015 Winter Music Festival, “The Sounds of Salisbury: A Family Gathering” with its annual Holiday Concert 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, in Holloway Hall Auditorium.

Lee Knier directs the mixture of international carols and modern music. Traditional carols include “Once in Royal David’s City,” “C’est Noël!” and “Fantasia on Kingsfold” (“O Sing a Song of Bethlehem”).

Featured pop selections include Maria Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” and Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.” Senior vocalist Devin Osborne joins the band on Jose Feliciano’s “Feliz Navídad” and on “Blue Christmas” (doing his best Elvis impression).

The ensemble also performs James Pierpont’s “Laughing All the Way (Jingle Bells),” Samuel Hazo’s “Whisper to Their Souls” (based on “Greensleeves”) and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” the latter with fanfare in the style of Mannheim Steamroller.

As in past years, the concert culminates with a visit from Santa Claus. Donations also are accepted for the Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Campaign.

Sponsored by the Music, Theatre and Dance Department, admission is free and the public is invited. For more information visit the SU website at www.salisbury.edu.
