Schneider Presents Research at Conference

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Sidney R. Schneider, associate professor and director of the Respiratory Health Program in the Department of Health Sciences in Salisbury State University’s Henson School of Science and Technology, recently presented two research studies at the 15th annual meeting of the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation in Tampa, FL.

The studies, “Metabolic Response to Exercise in Older Adults Participating in Pulmonary Rehabilitation” and “Exercise Tolerance in Older Adults with COPD Participating in Pulmonary Rehabilitation,” were published in the September/October issue of the Journal of Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

“The purpose of the research,” said Schneider, “is to bring about a better understanding of the effects of exercise in older

adults with Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease.”

 Schneider served as the principle investigator of the research team that included Dr. Robert L. Joyner, assistant professor and director of clinical education in SSU’s Respiratory Therapy Program, Dr. Susan M. Muller, associate professor and director of the Allied Health Physiology Program in SSU’s Department of Physical Education, and Jeanne E. Ruff, director of Cardiovascular/Pulmonary Rehabilitation at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
