Emergency Alert System Familiarization Exercise Scheduled September 23

University Police will conduct a familiarization exercise of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) on Tuesday, September 23, beginning at 10:46 a.m. The exercise will last approximately 15 minutes. It will involve the activation of all EAS systems (Emergency Siren, Emergency Mass Notification System, Campus E-mail and Campus TV Channel 24) with an exercise test message. The EAS is the primary emergency communication tool; we strongly encourage the campus community to become familiar with these systems. 
 
Exercise Schedule:
10:46 a.m. Emergency Sirens (located on top of Devilbiss Hall and near East Campus Complex) will sound followed by a voice announcement.
10:48 a.m. Emergency Mass Notification System will send a test voice or text message to students, faculty and staff that have signed up to receive emergency alerts.  Key locations that have been identified (Housing staff, Emergency Building Responders, etc.) will also receive a test voice message.  (Note:  The time it takes for you to actually receive your message depends on many factors external to the campus, including your cellular telephone carrier capacity.)
10:50 a.m.  Campus E-mail will send a test e-mail to all campus community members.
10:52 a.m. Campus TV Channel 24 will broadcast a test message for approximately five minutes.
11:00 a.m. Test completed (Note: You may not receive your test voice or text message until afterthis time due to external factors.

Those wishing to participate in Tuesday's exercise should register no later than noon Sunday, September 21. If you have already signed up, please remember to keep your information updated.
 
If you have signed up to receive emergency alerts and do not receive a test message or it was delayed 15 minutes or longer during the Familiarization Exercise, please e-mail ALERT@salisbury.edu. Be sure to include your name, your registered phone number and time received if it was delayed.
