SU Celebrates Kwanzaa Saturday, December 10"

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University celebrates Kwanzaa from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, December 10, in the Wicomico Room of the Guerrieri University Center.

class=""MsoNormal"">This is an informational program sponsored by campus organizations each year. Incorporated into this year’s celebration are many performance oriented presentations, including dancing, a fashion show and the SU Gospel Choir.

class=""MsoNormal"">Kwanzaa is a Ki Swahili word meaning “first” and signifying “first fruits,” derived from the phrase “Matunde Ya Kwanza.” Celebrated December 26 through January 2, each day focuses on a specific principle that should be practiced daily. During the celebration, observers give thanks for progress, establish individual goals, honor members of the African community and share the fruits of hard work and commitment expressed throughout the year. Sponsored by the African Students Association, Untouchables Dance Club, and the Office of Multiethnic Student Services, the program is free and the public is invited.
