SU Offers Tour de Clay Bus Trip to Baltimore March 18

class=""MsoNormal"">SALISBURY, MD---Artists, galleries and leaders from the Baltimore community coordinate for the Tour de Clay, a six-week showcase of more than 1,000 artists in over 160 exhibits at various locations throughout the Baltimore area. Salisbury University sponsors a bus trip for the occasion Friday, March 18.

class=""MsoNormal"">According to tour co-sponsor Baltimore Clayworks, the collection of exhibitions features established artists, as well as emerging talents in the regional, national and international levels. The Tour de Clay consists of 122 venues throughout the Baltimore area including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Johns Hopkins University, the Contemporary Museum and Baltimore Clayworks. Approximately 20 of the exhibits illuminate African American artists, venues or both.

class=""MsoNormal"">The Baltimore Sun deemed the exhibition “the largest ever visual arts program in the country.”

class=""MsoNormal"">Deborah Bedwell, executive director of Baltimore Clayworks, described it as, “art leading the way across a spectrum of culture.”

class=""MsoNormal"">In addition, the exhibition coincides with the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), which holds its opening ceremonies Wednesday-Saturday, March 16-19.

class=""MsoNormal"">The bus trip from SU includes an excursion to the Inner Harbor where patrons may visit local shops and exhibitions for the Tour de Clay. The bus departs for Baltimore at 7 a.m. from the Guerrieri University Center parking lot on Dogwood Drive and arrives back in Salisbury at approximately 6:30 p.m. Tickets for the bus trip are $10 for SU students, faculty and staff; $18 for community members.
