Odette Blumenfeld Speaks September 17

SALISBURY, MD---Dr. Odette Blumenfeld, professor of British and American literature at the Al. I. Cuza University of Iasi, Romania, speaks at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, in the Wicomico Room of Guerrieri University Center at Salisbury University.

Blumenfeld’s topic is “Romania, the Holocaust and the Jews of Moldavia: The Example of Iasi.”

On faculty at Al. I. Cuza since 1969 and chair of its English Department since 1995, her publications show a special interest in British and American drama, semiotics and poetics of the theatre, comparative literature, Shakespeare in performance and feminism.

She received a Fulbright grant for teaching drama at Washington University in St. Louis in 1989 and an American Council of Learned Societies grant to research American drama with the Graduate Center at the City University of New York from 1994-1995. She is extensively published in collective volumes in her own country and abroad. A visiting professor at the University of London, she has written for The Oxford Companion to Shakespeare.

Blumenfeld’s lecture is free and the public is cordially invited.
