Film Screening, Discussion Closes Women's History Month

SALISBURY, MD---Salisbury University’s Women’s History Month celebration concludes Wednesday, March 31, with a screening of the independent documentary Risk/Reward at 7 p.m. in Fulton Hall Room 111. The film’s directors, Elizabeth Holder and Xan Parker, follow the movie with a question-and-answer session and discussion on filmmaking. Produced by Holder and Parker’s company, Maryland-based Roland Park Films, the movie follows the lives of four young women making their way in the world of Wall Street, where only 41 of the 1,366 brokers on the New York Stock Exchange are female. The movie’s protagonists surprise and inspire with their career and family dilemmas and decisions. Variety calls the film a “skillful presentation and the fascinating power of its subjects, femme movers and shakers who perform high-wire juggling acts between their personal and professional lives every day.” The Washington Business Journal says the movie “offers a rare view of what it's like to have a high-powered job on Wall Street and still try to have a life.” Baltimore Magazine calls it “a standout” and The Baltimore Sun says the film is “at once both enlightening … and daunting.” Sponsored by the Franklin P. Perdue School of Business, the movie is free and the public is cordially invited. For more information call 410-543-6030 or visit the SU Web site at www.salisbury.edu.
