European Feast Features Folk Band

SALISBURY, MD---The Hungarian village band Duvo brings its European folk music to Salisbury University during a European feast 5-7 p.m. Friday, September 26, at The Bistro in SU’s Commons.

Featuring music from Hungary, Transylvania and Slovakia, the band’s members have dedicated their lives to studying folk music from remote villages in an effort to preserve and present a portion of European heritage. The band’s SU appearance is part of its first North American tour.

Duvo members include Denes Hruz on violin and bagpipes, Szabolcs Hruz on brasca and koboz, Ferenc Andrassy on cimbalom, Instvan Nagy on bass and furulya and Gergely Toth on violin and bracsa.

The menu includes Hungarian goulash, pierogis, Flemish-style green peas, buttered Brussels sprouts, stuffed peppers, potato rosti, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa with sauerkraut and Russian tea cakes. Cost is $8.75 for adults, $5.20 for children ages 6-12.
