Fifth Web Communications & Strategies Conference at SU

SALISBURY, MD---What began in 2000 as a conference for just University System of Maryland Web professionals has become a national event this year during the fifth annual Web Communications and Strategies Conference from Monday-Wednesday, July 12-14, at Salisbury University. A new name, Web Communications and Strategies Conference, conveys the new approach for this year’s event. The focus is on not only information technology, but also marketing and communication professionals who make decisions regarding their Web strategy, whether for an institution or a company. Scott Hall, interactive media director from Stamats, a leading higher education marketing firm, presents the keynote, “Marketing & IT: Working Together Successfully,” 9 a.m. Monday, July 12. Some 18 one-hour seminars cover such topics as: Getting the Most from the Web on a Limited Budget Party on the Web: How to Make Your Online Community Work Content Management Efficiencies The Puzzle of Technology: Closing the Gap Between Promise & Reality How to Write an RFP: Get What You Want by Knowing What Vendors Need Print On Demand Solutions Optimizing Sites for Search Engines Management of Your Web Space Understanding the Web Life Cycle Three of the United States’ leading marketing firms promote the conference through their monthly e-newsletters, advertising not only the conference but Salisbury University to more than 25,000 people nationwide and more internationally. Attendees range from international institutions to high schools. They include:  Université Laval (Quebec), Western Illinois University, Georgetown University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Edmonds Community College, Ball State University, Brown University, Bishop Kelley High School (Tulsa, OK), Columbia University, Hamilton College, Western Carolina University, The Catholic University of America, and Savannah College of Art & Design … just to name a few. The conference cost is $200 including all meals except Tuesday evening. An inclusive Monday night crab feast at the Red Roost restaurant is planned. Four additional workshops are offered Wednesday, July 14, for an additional fee of $75 per three-hour workshop.
