Renowned Author Sandra Steingraber Speaks at SU March 6

SALISBURY, MD---Ecologist, author and cancer survivor Sandra Steingraber speaks at Salisbury University 7 p.m. Sunday, March 6, in the Holloway Hall Auditorium. Steingraber, an internationally recognized expert on the environmental links to cancer and reproductive health, wrote the highly acclaimed book Living Downstream: An Ecologist Looks at Cancer and the Environment, which presents cancer as a human rights issue. Her book was the first to juxtapose data from toxic releases with that from United States cancer registries. Having Faith: An Ecologist’s Journey to Motherhood continues her research from Downstream and investigates fetal toxicology. The Library Journal selected Having Faith as one of the best books of 2001. Lauded for being able to bridge the communications gap between scientists and activists, she has keynoted several conferences on human health and the environment. Steingraber has interviewed with The Today Show, The Chicago Tribune, USA Today and National Public Radio. The lecture, co-sponsored by the Office of Cultural Affairs and Museum Programs, is part of SU’s Women’s History Month celebration. Admission is free and the public is invited.
