Welcome to the homepage of the Salisbury
University Classical Guitar Festival and Competition. Now in its
third year this is the only classical guitar festival on the
Eastern Shore.
The Festival will be held on Saturday, April 9,
in the Great Hall in the
Holloway Hall building of Salisbury University. Open to
students of all ages and levels, the day offers masterclasses,
lectures, a competition, final recital and the opportunity to
participate in the Festival Ensemble. Parents of participants
are also most welcome.

Festival Highlights
Masterclasses
Masterclasses take place concurrently from in the
morning of the festival. Please check back for the full list of
teachers.
Playing Competition
There are three age
categories for the playing competition:
Ages 11 and under
Ages 12-15 Ages 16-18
Festival Ensemble
In honor of the
third annual Classical Guitar Festival, we have commissioned
Jerry Tabor to composed a new work
for guitar ensemble. Al participants are invited to play in the
ensemble which will rehearse in the afternoon session and
perform on the final concert. No preparation in advance is
necessary however the score will be available online in advance
for those wishing to hear the sound files and select a part to
practice.
Final Concert
The final concert features a solo
performance by
Javier Calderon.
The New
York Times described Calderon as "a virtuoso with poetic
sensibility" and he has toured extensively throughout the United
States, Europe, South America and the Far East.
Mr.
Calderon’s recital will be followed by the Ensemble Showcase in
which the participants’ Ensemble and the guest ensemble will
perform.
