Jazz Ensemble
Jazz Ensemble (Big
Jazz Brazz Band and Wire Choir) MUSA 102 meets on
Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:45 p.m. and is open to
all students and community musicians. The purpose
of this ensemble is to study and perform a variety of
jazz styles including swing, bebop, cool, hard bop,
contemporary, blues, fusion and Latin. In
addition, the study and application of improvisation
skills are an integral part of the ensemble experience.
Each semester, students will study and apply various
historical and stylistic performance practice, as well
as jazz improvisation. Performance background and
some sight-reading skills are preferred. Students
audition for placement and scholarships. Please
