William M. Folger, appointed to the music faculty in 2003, is a conductor, pianist, and vocal coach. As Associate Professor and Director of Choral Activities, he conducts the University Chorale, Chamber Choir, and the University-Community Chorus. He teaches courses in conducting, singer's diction, choral methods, class voice, choral and musical theatre literature, and musical theatre workshop, and musical theatre.

He has directed Junior and Senior High School Choirs, community and professional level choral ensembles, and several amateur and professional musical theater productions in New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina and West Virginia.

As winner of the conducting competition at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG), he conducted the combined forces of the North Carolina Symphony and the University Symphony Orchestra.

As a collaborative pianist, he has performed with instrumental and vocal artists in New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, and West Virginia.

Dr. Folger is a graduate of the State University of New York at Fredonia and Ithaca College, where he majored in Music Education, Music Therapy, and Conducting (MM). He received his Doctorate of Musical Arts in Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has taught on the faculties of Concord College, UNCG, Ithaca College, Finger Lakes Community College, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
