Christie C. Selway
Christie
Selway is a part-time Instructor of Music History and Music
Appreciation at Wor-Wic Community College and will be
co-teaching some of the music education courses at Salisbury
University. She
started teaching in 1976 and retired from teaching in 2007 after
successfully teaching music in the Worcester County Public
Schools. Her
education background includes an EDD in Educational Leadership
and Innovative Learning from Wilmington University, a Masters of
Education from Salisbury State University, and a Bachelors of
Music Education from Baldwin Wallace College. She has studied
flute with Murray Panitz, William Hebert, and Dr. Douglas Smith.
Christie spent the two years following
her retirement traveling and living in Hawaii, Cabo San Lucas,
and California. She designed and taught a music education
program for infants through kindergarten at the Center for
Children and Families on the California State University San
Marcus campus in 2008-2009. Returning to the Eastern Shore in
2009, she continued performing on the flute in small
instrumental and choral ensembles. Selway also designed and
taught four Wor-Wic College community classes in Music History
and Music Appreciation during the 2010-2011 academic year. She
has just finished teaching middle school and lower school chorus
at Salisbury School.
For the past three summers, 2009-2011, Christie has been the
Camp Director for Camp Horizon, a seven week day camp sponsored
by the Town of Ocean City. This position involved working with
approximately 70-100 campers, ages five through twelve and
supervising a staff of young adult counselors ranging in ages
from 18 through 24.
