On Thursday March 13 at 12:30 pm, Peabody guitarist Zane
Forshee presented a solo recital in the Fulton Hall Art Gallery
that included works by J.S Bach, Spanish composer Isaac Albeniz
and Cuban composer Leo Brouwer. Mr. Forshee is an exciting
player emerging on the international scene as a soloist and
chamber musician, competition winner and recitalist, and we were
honored to have him perform on our campus. The gallery was the
perfect venue both acoustically and visually for this very
expressive recital. The event was so well attended that
additional chairs had to be brought in.
Following his performance Mr. Forshee taught a masterclass
for the guitar majors, sharing his wonderful insight and humor.
Mr. Forshee was the third visiting guitarist to perform at SU
this term. On February 21 Peabody guitarists Mark Edwards and
Ben Beirs performed solo works as well as concerti with pianist
Irene Kim in the Great Hall.
The guitar series will continue in the fall term with
concerts and lecture-recitals. Details will be posted on the
Music Department website when available.
