When musicians consider attending Salisbury University, they are attracted to our professional faculty, the community atmosphere that is unique to the Department of Music, the peers they find in the student body and for the opportunity to perform in our performing ensembles. As tightened state budgets have forced tuition increases, we find that those attractions are not quite enough to draw promising musicians to our campus. We know from experience that scholarship support will inspire a motivated student to choose Salisbury University.

The Department of Music represents an exceptional opportunity to promote the study of music in a liberal arts atmosphere. Salisbury University has a long and proud history in this area, and the recent efforts of the music department faculty, staff, and administration have poised the school well to move forward to even greater successes. And word continues to spread about what a strong institution this is; our enrollment numbers within the department continue to grow exponentially each year!

One of our proudest accomplishments is the recent accreditation of our music program by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). Accreditation, in practical terms, is a stamp of approval; a sign that an institution ascribes to, believes in, and has met an external set of basic criteria for the programs it offers. It indicates that threshold standards are adhered to in a fashion that provides a base of academic strength and operational integrity.

I hope you, like us, are excited at the prospect of building an even stronger program for student musicians. We have seen many exciting advancements in the past year. The faculty, staff and especially the students, are grateful for your support and would welcome any questions you have about the program. If you would like to give a gift to the Department of Music, you may do so by sending your check or cash to:
