Keynote
Speaker: Stan Johnson, "Understanding Diversity-Building and
Inclusive Environment" Worcester Room, Commons, 2pm
Diversity
facilitator Stan Johnson will focus on the impact diversity has
on individuals both personally and professionally. Stan's use
of materials provides lively, energetic and exciting workshop
that will grab the participant’s attention! This workshop is
open to faculty, staff and students. A certification of
participation will be presented to those who attend. Please
contact the Office of Diversity at 410-543-6426 no later than
April 23rd to reserve your seat. (Space is limited)

Belly Dancing
Workshop, 5p-6p; Public Performance, 7pm Wicomico Room
Learn the art of
belly dancing during a special workshop and performance in
connection with Salisbury University’s Multicultural Festival
Week starting at 5p.m. Valerie Hue, better known by her
traditional Middle Eastern stage name, Nefertiti, teaches the
basics of the art form, then shows how the pros do it,
performing with the Salisbury-based Damali Dance Company 7pm
immediately following the lesson. The workshop and performance
at SU are free and the public is invited. Exercise clothing is
recommended for those interested in participating in the

In an effort to show how SU values
the work that is done to promote diversity,
the Office of Diversity in
conjunction with SGA, the President and Provost Office will
recognize the individuals whose dedication and contribution
supports the University's diversity initiatives. Each winner
will receive a $200 award.
Honoring the
African-American Spiritual, Great Hall, 7:30pm
Featuring
such beloved spiritual arrangements as "Didn't My Lord Deliver
Daniel" and "Nobody Knows the Trouble I've Seen". Award winning
SU voice majors Monica Harwood and Laurel Noone, saxophonist
James Burks, Jr., guitarist Zach Caceres and faculty artists
John Wesley Wright (tenor) and Danielle Cumming (guitarist)
combine forces to create a memorable and "spiritual" evening.
Veronica T. Knier is the program's special guest accompanist. An
introductory speech by junior vocal performance major and 2008
NATS Student Auditions Winner Robert Slangen and appearances by
professional artists Cristy Lynn Brown and Reginald Pindell, who
are in town for the May 4 performance of Mendelssohn's Elijah,
round out the evening. Sponsored by the Music Department and

This year's
theme is "Taking Flight With Diversity"!
Assortment of performers take over University Hill and
Pergola during Multicultural Festival Day. Acts include Keith
Marks, Steel Kings, Mystic Warriors, the SU Step Squad and the
SU Gospel Choir. The event also features demonstrations in Tae
Kwon Do and Hip-Hop air brushing, CMAT 300, Cultural
Demonstrations, Local Vendors and Cultural Food Samples.

Dinner, Commons,

Featuring Steel Kings Band
Salisbury
University Dining Services celebrates the Caribbean: crab cakes
with citrus salsa, rum glazed ribs, chicken curry, Caribbean
rice, Jamaican jerk baked beans, grilled corn with lime butter,
sautéed callaloo, curried vegetables, vegan chocolate rum cake,
mango cheesecake and key lime pie. The music styling's of the
Steel Kings, a steel drum band, complements the meal. Cost of
the dinner is $9.68, $5.95 for children 6-12, free for children

Relay 4 Life, Intramural

For the past
four years, Salisbury University’s Relay For Life has been named
one of the top collegiate Relays in the nation, and organizers
are gearing up for another highly successful event in May.
Opening ceremonies for the American Cancer Society’s
signature fundraising event begin 6 p.m. Friday, May 2, at SU’s
Intramural Fields. Closing ceremonies are 6 a.m. Saturday, May
