2010 Sammy Digital Media Awards
Salisbury University has opened the new Integrated Media Center, soon
to be named the GullWorks Studios at Salisbury University. The studios opened in
the fall of 2008 and offer the very latest in digital content creation
technology. The high definition and standard definition video studios, the
HD audio recording studio, the 15 video editing suites and 5 audio editing
suites, and two multi-media instructional labs are all state of the art. The
fact that all of these facilities are adjacent to one another on the third floor
of the Teacher Education and Technology Center, make this media facility
truly unique.
As we open these studios there is a strong interest in "raising the bar" and
broadening participation in the creation of digital media. The Sammy
Awards have been created to do just this. The Sammy's will be awarded
annually to students who achieve excellence in the areas of digital media. The
awards and competition are not limited to students in a specific major. The
Sammy's are open to all.
The competition categories include the following:
New Media - Coordinator, Mr. Preston Poe
Digital Photography - Coordinator, Mr. Dean Peterson
Audio Production - Coordinator, Dr. Andrew Sharma
Music Recording - Coordinator, Dr. Jerry Tabor
News Feature - Coordinator, Dr. David Burns
Entertainment Film, Long Form - Coordinator, Dr. Andrew Sharma
Entertainment Film, Short Form - Mr. Mike Camillo
