This subject guide is intended to be a starting point for your research on psychology topics.  Recommended databases, journals, reference tools, and websites are listed. Links are provided to electronic sources.

Databases – Search library databases to find journal articles and other information sources on a topic. Some journal articles are available in full-text through the database or through FindIt links.

Journals – Scholarly, academic, or professional journals provide articles authored by professionals in the field.  Current research is often reported in scholarly journals.

Reference Sources – Dictionaries, Encyclopedias, Handbooks and other sources to consult for information and to find bibliographic references to additional information sources.

A source of searchable full text articles in psychology. The database contains full text articles from 52 psychology journals, including 44 APA (American Psychological Association) publications.

 

Psychology & Behavioral  Sciences Collection

Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals, including more than 500 peer-reviewed titles. Covers topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

 

Academic Search Complete 

Academic Search Complete is a comprehensive scholarly, multi-disciplinary full-text database, with more than 8,500 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,300 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text, this database offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc. The database features PDF content going back as far as 1887, with the majority of full text titles in native (searchable) PDF format. Searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,400 journals.

 

Social Sciences Abstracts

 

Provides indexing & abstracts for more than 520 publications with some links to full text in other databases. Multidisciplinary coverage includes fields such as addiction studies, anthropology, economics, gender studies, gerontology, minority studies, political sciences, psychology & sociology.

Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY)

&

Tests in Print (TIP)

 

MMY provides a comprehensive guide to over 2700 contemporary testing instruments & information needed for an evaluation of test products for psychology, education, & business. Entries contain descriptive information and edited reviews written by content area experts.

TIP provides information including test purpose, test publisher, in-print status, price, test acronym, intended test population, administration times, publication date(s) & test author(s). Serves as a comprehensive bibliography to all known commercially available tests that are currently in print in the English language.

MMY & TIP are produced by the Buros Institute of Mental Measurements at the University of Nebraska.
