Yale University Collection of Musical Instruments – beautiful photos and detailed information about the instruments in this collection; includes string, keyboard, and wind instruments as well as non-western instruments; includes sound clips from recent performances.

MOMI: the Museum of Musical Instruments – an outstanding collection of 19th and 20th century instruments; articles, exhibits and collection descriptions with photos.

Musical Instrument Museum – a large collection of musical instruments from a variety of world cultures; online exhibits are organized geographically.

National Music Museum – from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion, a virtual version of their renowned museum of musical instruments from many time periods and cultures; includes sound clips.
