This index allows the user to search for journal articles on all aspects of physical education including physiology, sports injuries, sports training, sports psychology, sports organization, sports ethics, sports rules and the many topics on physical education instruction.

We have about one third of the journals listed in this index in Blackwell Library (See list below).

For articles from journals not available in Blackwell Library, we can order the articles through our (ILL) Interlibrary Loan Department The order time is roughly two to three weeks, depending where the article comes from. While it can sometimes take less than two weeks to get your article, other times it can take longer, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get your orders in before your papers are due.

To order an article you may fill out a request either online (ILL) or come into the library and fill out a paper form located at the reference desk, submitting it to the reference desk librarian when completed. There is usually no cost to order these articles, but in some cases dealing with rare publications, you may have to pay a nominal fee.

Note: There are some online full text articles available through some other databases, although the article coverage on physical education related topics is "much less extensive" than in the Physical Education Index. Links to these partial full text databases are listed below.

Academic Search Premier in EBSCO (some full text - good general database , but does not specialize in physical education topics)

ERIC (some full text - extensive education database - try this!)

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition (some full text) \

Science Direct (some full text - science database that covers many different sciences)

Note: Another database of possible interest, but with no full text is Medline.

MEDLINE Extensive medical database, but we carry very few of the journals that it indexes at Blackwell Library. You will likely have to use our Interlibrary Loan service to obtain most articles from this database.
