DISCIPLINE-SPECIFIC EDUCATION DATABASES:
 
COMAR Online:
Code of Maryland Regulation (COMAR) provides access to the full text of Maryland State agency regulations.  COMAR contains 33 Titles, with each Title corresponding to a department/agency.  Searchable by word, phrase, codification # or title, and browsable by table of contents. Search: Regulations about Education.  Time span: Updated biweekly corresponding with the effective dates in the most current Maryland Register issue.
 
ERIC:
Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index.  ERIC provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1000 educational and education-related journals.  Coverage: Early childhood through graduate level - 1966 to present.

JSTOR Education:
JSTOR is a not-for-profit organization with a dual mission to create and maintain a trusted archive of important scholarly journals, and to provide access to these journals as widely as possible. Content in JSTOR spans many disciplines, primarily in the humanities and social sciences.  Historical in scope (pre-1980’s).
 
Primary Search: Primary Search, designed specifically for elementary school libraries and public library children's rooms, contains full text for more than 60 popular, elementary school magazines.  All full text articles are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles).  This database also offers indexing and abstracts for nearly 100 magazines.  Full text is also available for over 100 student pamphlets.  This database also provides the American Heritage Children's Dictionary, 3rd Edition from Houghton Mifflin, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags. Many full text titles are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color. Full text backfiles to 1989, indexing/abstract backfiles to 1984.
 
Professional Development Collection: Professional Development Collection, designed for professional educators, provides a highly specialized collection of more than 550 high quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles and contains more than 200 educational reports. The most comprehensive/valuable collection of full text education journals in the world. Indexing/abstracts provided for more than 700 journals. The majority of full text titles included in the database are available in native (searchable) PDF, or scanned-in-color. Full text information in the Professional Development Collection dates as far back as 1965.
 
Teacher Reference Center:
Provides indexing and abstracts for over 280 of the most popular teacher and administrator trade journals to assist professional educators.
 
Physical Education Index:
Over 300 sources are currently indexed, though not all are comprehensive. Over 250,000 records can be searched, with approximately 1,000 added every month. An online thesaurus is available.  Coverage: Covers academic and recreational information concerning physical education, physical therapy, sports, medicine, coaching, legal issues and related topics. Time span: 1970 to present.

MULTI-DISCIPLINARY DATABASES (Education-related):
 
Academic Search Premier: Provides full-text articles from approximately 1,560 journals, with indexing and abstracting from about 2,730 journals.  The full-text dates back to 1990 whereas the abstracts date back as far as 1984.
 
ArticleFirst: Indexes 16,000 sources with over 19,600,000 records in business, humanities, medicine, science, social sciences, technology and popular culture from 1990 to the present.

 
Contemporary Women's Issues:
Indexes 1,500 sources including books and journals and provides links to full-text when available. Over 35,000 records are available and are updated on a weekly basis.  CWI covers numerous subject areas pertaining to women's issues, such as lesbian concerns, family life, human rights, violence and exploitation and other related topics. Time span: 1992 to present.
 
Humanities International Complete: Provides full text of hundreds of journals, books and other published sources from around the world. This database includes all data from Humanities International Index (over 2,000 titles and 2 million records) plus unique full text content, much of which is not found in other databases.
 
MAS Fulltext Ultra:
Full-text for over 500 popular general interest and current events publications, as well as 253 full text reference books, nearly 100,000 biographies, 76,000 primary source documents, and an image collection of 116,000 photos, maps and flags.  Coverage: Includes current events, popular culture, and biographical information. Time span: 1975 to present.
 
MasterFILE Premier: Provides abstracts and indexing for 2,650 general periodicals. Full text of articles for nearly 2,000 periodicals, and 5,000 full text Magill Book Reviews.  Coverage: Multidisciplinary subjects including general reference, business, education, health, general science, multi-cultural issues, biography, and travel. Time span: 1975-present.
 
NetLibrary: A collection of E-texts covering topics specifically chosen by Maryland Academic Libraries.  Coverage: Collection strengths include computer science, business, international relations, education, environmental science, psychology, and civil rights law and history. Search: Education (176 titles).
 
PsycArticles: A source of searchable full text articles in psychology, covers general psychology and specialized, basic, applied, clinical and theoretical research in psychology.  Search Education as it relates to psychology.
 
PsycINFO: Journal article coverage spans the years 1887 to present.  Material from nearly 2,000 periodicals is included.
 
SU Dissertations & Theses
: Provides access to citations and abstracts of all SU student's dissertations and theses published with UMI® Dissertation Publishing, as well as the full text in PDF format, when available.  Coverage varies.
 
Web of Science:
Provides multidisciplinary literature coverage from 9,300 journals – including cited references - in the sciences, social sciences, arts, and humanities. Search backward and forward in time with cited reference searching, analyze results, search over 100 years of back files, and link to the full text.
