The SU Libraries offer many services and a variety of equipment to help faculty, staff, students, and community members in their academic pursuits.
There are over 300 computers, both PCs and Macs, located throughout the Guerrieri Academic Commons that are available for public use. You can check out how many computers are available in each area on our website or in our mobile app.
There are also numerous study spaces throughout the building. For quiet study, visitors can go to the reading areas located on the third floor along with our library general collection. The third floor is a quiet area and is isolated from the rest of the building so that as little sound gets through as possible. Note that there aren't any computers in these areas, so you will need to bring your own or check out a laptop from the Library Service Desk if you need a computer.
There are also study spaces located throughout the building on every floor that allow for casual conversation. You can grab a seat overlooking the atrium, or settle in near the café at one of the many bench seats.
If you would like a private study space for yourself or your group, there are 15 group study rooms in the building as well. Most of these can be reserved online, and several of them are available 24 hours a day!
There are print release stations located throughout the building on every floor. Each computer will default to printing from the printers located on that floor.
Mobile printing is also available for printing from a personal laptop, tablet, or smartphone. You can visit the Printing Services page to learn more about how to use the mobile printing system.
Color printing is available from the Library Service Desk on the first floor. To print in color, choose the color printer when printing your document from any computer located in the Academic Commons. Then go to the Library Service Desk and you will see a color print release station. Log in to the release station and print your job. A library staff member will then get your prints for you. To print in color, select the go_ac146_color printer. Color printing is 50¢ per page.
Guest printing is available for non-SU-affiliated patrons. Prints are 10¢ per page for black and white prints, and 50¢ per page for color prints. To print in black and white, select the AC146-CIRC printer. To print in color, select the go_ac146_color printer. Prints can be picked up at the Library Service Desk.
Scanning is available using large flatbed scanners or document feeder scanners at our scanning kiosks. The kiosks are located in each of the printing alcoves on the first floor, as well as in the center of the third floor.
You can use our library maps to see all the printing and scanning locations throughout the building.
You can check out many devices from the Library Service Desk for use both on and off campus. You can check out laptops for 1 day (24 hours), and they may leave the building. The laptops are programmed to connect to the SU-Secure wireless network on campus, but they will not connect to personal wireless networks off-campus. You can check out headphones for 3 hours at a time, and they must remain in the building. iPads and iPod touches are available for checkout for 2 weeks at a time. iPads are in extremely high demand and are often checked out, so be sure to check our device availability page before coming to the library.
Please see our borrowing policies page for full details about checking out devices from the SU Libraries.
The SU Libraries MakerLab, located on the first floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons, Room 116, is a space designed to help students, faculty, and staff create and design objects in a fun and stress-free environment. We have 3 3D printers and 2 3D scanners available, as well as Arduinos and Raspberry Pis that students can use to power their inventions.
For more information about the MakerLab, see the MakerLab site.
Near the Library Service Desk and the Café, there are several lockers available for storing your personal belongings while you are in the library or on campus. The lockers use personal combinations that you set to secure your items, and many of them include power outlets so your devices can charge while you're in class or studying.
To use a locker, inquire at the Library Service Desk.
The Accessibility Room is located on the first floor of the Guerrieri Academic Commons, Room 115. The room has 5 computers that all have the most common accessibility software installed, such as Dragon Dictation, ZoomText, and JAWS.
