Chat Reference is intended primarily for SU students, faculty,
and staff, but questions from other users will be welcomed if
resources permit.
What type of questions can I submit using chat?
Questions regarding research help, finding a source, citing a
source, etc.
Some requests might require direct email
communication with a librarian or a scheduled research
consultation.
Will I need to wait to chat with the librarian?
Patrons at the Reference Desk have priority over IM patrons. IM
patrons are taken on a first-come-first-served basis.
Alternatively, you may always email a librarian or visit the
reference desk for assistance.
What if I have a question when the chat service is
closed?
Chat services from Maryland's 24/7 Virtual Research Service
SU librarians chat only during certain hours, so you may be
helped by a non-SU librarian. Providing a valid e-mail address
will allow SU librarians to follow up on your question.
