  1. Who can use the chat service?

Chat Reference is intended primarily for SU students, faculty, and staff, but questions from other users will be welcomed if resources permit.

  2. What type of questions can I submit using chat?

Questions regarding research help, finding a source, citing a source, etc.

Some requests might require direct email communication with a librarian or a scheduled research consultation.

  3. Will I need to wait to chat with the librarian?

Patrons at the Reference Desk have priority over IM patrons. IM patrons are taken on a first-come-first-served basis. Alternatively, you may always email a librarian or visit the reference desk for assistance.

  4. What if I have a question when the chat service is closed?
