    • View and track your requests through the web
    • View checked out items
    • View current and past requests including citations and tracking data
  • Items requested using the Find It Button image button in the library catalog or online databases in ResearchPort are forwarded automatically into ILLiad (no more copying information!)

The first time you access ILLiad, you will need to register:

  • A one-time registration form must be submitted before requests can be made.
  • Requests for items that are owned at Blackwell Library or within the USMAI catalog will be returned.
  • If you are unable to register, please stop by the Circulation Desk.

For Book Requests:

  • Have you checked the Library Catalog and completed a multi-campus search?  SU faculty, staff and students can place their own electronic requests through the USMAI catalog if another USMAI library has the title available for lending (see Direct Borrowing).

If the book cannot be located in the Library Catalog, submit a request through ILLiad.

For Article Requests (Journal/Magazine/Newspaper):

  • Have you checked the Library Catalog to see if we own the periodical title?
  • While searching within an SU database, have you clicked on the yellow 'Find It' button to see if it is available in any other database that SU provides access to?

If the journal/magazine/newspaper is not available at SU in print and cannot be located in full-text in ResearchPort, submit a request through ILLiad.

Interlibrary Loan vs. Direct Borrowing

Interlibrary Loan Direct Borrowing (Patron Placed Holds)
You may request items via the ILLiad form. You may request the item directly through the USMAI Catalog.
Materials are requested from a library outside the USMAI Consortium (within the U.S.) Books are requested from USMAI Libraries only.
Materials may take longer to get to Blackwell Library.  The average turn-around time for articles is 3-5 business days, for books it is 1-2 weeks.  Hard to locate materials may take even longer. Materials get to Blackwell Library within 3-5 business days.
A one-time online registration form must be completed before a request can be submitted (your registration information is validated against your library account) No registration required, but you will need to authenticate with your Gull Card 14-digit ID/barcode number.
There may be an occasional charge, but only if the lending library charges us. All materials are free.
